2 Killed, 6 Injured in Jersey Shore Car Crash
One wrong move can lead to a multi-vehicle crash in an instant. Such an accident can cause serious injuries and fatalities.
This was recently the case in New Jersey. Four vehicles were involved in a crash in Egg Harbor Township, killing two people and injuring six others. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of July 26 on Black Horse Pike.
The crash happened in the 8000 block of the Black Horse Pike in front of the Oh St. Joseph Hotel. A 2017 Nissan Sentra was heading west on the Black Horse Pike when it entered the eastbound lane. It hit a Kia Forte, causing a head-on collision.
The force of the impact pushed the Kia backward, causing it to collide with a 2020 Nissan Sentra that was heading east on the Black Horse Pike. The 2020 Nissan Sentra went off the roadway before coming to rest on the westbound side of the roadway. The Kia Forte came to rest in the marsh area along the eastbound side of the roadway, with the 2017 Nissan Sentra coming to rest in the eastbound lanes. Debris from one of the vehicles hit a fourth vehicle, a Toyota Yaris.
After the crash, the 2017 silver Nissan Sentra caught fire. Multiple bystanders stopped to help get people out of the vehicle before it became completely engulfed in flames.
The driver of the Kia Forte, a 21-year-old from Atlantic City, was killed in the crash. A passenger in the 2017 Nissan Sentra, a 22-year-old woman from Pleasantville, also died.
Two passengers in the 2017 Nissan Sentra, one male and one female child, were taken to separate hospitals in critical condition. A man inside that same vehicle, identified as a 25-year-old man from Pleasantville, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
A passenger in the Kia Forte, identified as a 27-year-old man from Atlantic City, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Two occupants of the 2020 Nissan Sentra were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. A Good Samaritan, an unidentified man, was taken to the hospital after helping the passengers of the 2017 Nissan Sentra. His current condition is unknown. The driver of the fourth vehicle, the Toyota Yaris, was not injured in the crash.
The accident scene was gruesome. A portion of the Black Horse Pike was blocked off, with the burnt-out shell of one car visible in the middle of a lane. There were several fire trucks and police cars at the scene with yellow tape around the area. The front end of a red sedan collided with a barrier off the shoulder, with its airbags deployed. A third dark-colored car could be seen in a grassy area off the road.
