Car Crash Sends Vehicle Into Home

CarCrash8

No two car accidents are alike. Some are minor, while others happen at high speeds and can be severe in nature. The impact of a car accident can lead to subsequent crashes as well as multiple injuries.

This recently happened in New Jersey. Two vehicles collided, causing one to collide with a house. The accident happened in Teaneck on the morning of January 25 near Sherman and Palmer avenues.

The driver of a Ford Explorer plowed into a Nissan Rogue, sending that vehicle into a nearby house. A couple of teens were seen running from the Explorer. They were later caught by police.

The airbags in the Rogue deployed due to the impact of the crash. Nearby residents gathered around the vehicle and tried to help the victim, a woman. One boy heard his mother run outside and bang on the window of the Rogue. Police then showed up to assist the victim.

Rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to pull the victim out of the Rogue. They then performed CPR on her before she was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries. Her current status is unknown.

While the speed limit in the area is 25 miles per hour, it’s not uncommon for motorists to ignore the speed limit and stop signs. Many run the stop signs and go much faster.

Neighbors say the driver of the Rogue lives just a few doors from the accident scene.  They said she is a very nice person who works from home. She has two kids — a daughter in high school and a daughter in elementary school. Her niece lives with her as well. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is still investigating the crash as are local police.

What Are the Jaws of Life?

When many people hear about serious car accidents and the need to rescue vehicle passengers, the Jaws of Life is often mentioned. But what exactly does this tool do?

The Jaws of Life is a hydraulic rescue tool that is used to cut through cars and help remove occupants who are trapped inside after a crash. It can be easy for drivers and passengers to be stuck inside a vehicle due to the strength of modern vehicles. Modern vehicles are built with strong, durable frames. However, these frames can be compressed and crushed in an accident.

When first responders arrive at the scene of a car accident, their main goal is to extricate the vehicle’s occupants quickly and safely. The Jaws of Life is the best tool for this job, as it is highly powerful and capable of removing material or debris. This tool can widen openings to the vehicle, cut car frames apart, and lift crushing weights from passengers.
